Iran - Turan, Bd. 6: Minstrel poetry from the Pamir mountains: a study on the songs and poems of the Isma'ilis of Tajik Badakhshan

This study is an exploration of the sung poetry of Tajik Badakhshan, also known as Autonomous Region of Gorno-Badakhshan or simply Pamir, populated by Nizari Ismaili Muslims. It presents an analysis of the different poetical genres and performance-genres of the minstrel tradition of Badakhshan. The great bulk of the poetry presented in this study was recorded in the houses of the musicians.
