Studies 75 previously unpublished letters exchanged between 20th-century literary giant (1889-1959) and wife of Argentine critic he met while serving as ambassador in that country. Dated from 1926 to 1959, correspondence provides insights into more intimate side of well-known diplomat and author, as well as tensions between public and private life and story of two cities--Buenos Aires and Mexico City--during those years. Aguirre has won national awards for essay, novel, theater and short stories, as well as literature in general.
