About This Book
**The Assessment of the level of media literacy does not to have a long tradition in Slovakia. In 2007, the first research conducted a project focused on assessment of young people´s media literacy level in Slovakia. Some partial information on various aspects of media literacy in Slovakia can be found in this research study.**
Quantitative empirical research methods were used in the research – combination of a questionnaire with written tests and their content analysis and evaluation. Overall number of respondents was 674. The sample was stratified according to age, gender, place of residence and educational level.
The research strategy distinguished 4 basic characteristics of media literacy: the ability to get access to information from media, to analyse them, to expose them to evaluation and be able to form information independently. These components make up the basis of capacity that should be adopted by media literacy person.
