Sarah's Girls; A Chronicle of Big Ugly Creek

Prompted by the receipt of a yellowed journal from an aged aunt, the writer tells the stories she grew up hearing from her mother and aunts - Sarah's girls. The evolution of a family and it's anchors on Big Ugly Creek are presented against the backdrop of the economic expansion in the hills of West Virginia as the 19th century rolled into the 20th. It portrays the influence of family and place in the development and lives of four sisters. The narrative is presented in simple language, but with a clear picture.
