Catholicism's encounters with China

This book is the fruit of our 12th International Verbiest Symposium in 2015. It includes 21 papers on various aspects of the history of Chinese Catholicism: missions, science, linguistics, philosophy, theology, medicine, architecture, archaeology and music. These papers, all in English, cover the period from the 16th to 20th century. This book is divided in two parts: Catholic Missions in China Previous to the 19th Century and Chinese Catholicism in the 19th and 20th Century.
