About This Book
Although famous by its name, Ferme Saint-Siméon in Honfleur is still relatively unknown. This book invites to a new voyage in the history of this mythical establishment, navigating particularly between the two roles which it played during the XIXth century, that of Norman refuge of landscape painting and that of littoral extension of the literary home from the capital. From Corot to Monet and from Courbet to Boudin, from Sapeck to Champsaur and from Allais to Proust, a rich iconography, partly unpublished, as well as literary sources allow us today to tell, from 1825-1830 to dawn of the twentieth century, the story of this famous inn run by the famous Mother Toutain. Works bearing witness to this strong artistic presence are today.
