About This Book
This is a hymnal (no music) complied by William Coombs Dana (1810-1880), Presbyterian pastor in Charleston, South Carolina. Unique among hymnals, this one deliberately eschews the hymns of Isaac Watts (which dominated many hymnals in the first part of the nineteenth century). The book includes an index of first lines.
