About This Book

I am a grandson of Ernesto Sousa Matute.
I have hard cover as well as paper back editions of this book.
This book is a tribute to a great man in Peruvian History.
He was an attorney, writer, General, ,and politician who became Minister of Interior of Peru.
The book emphasizes his dream of connecting the poverty of of mountain inhabitants with the riches of the coast through an extensive railroad system.
He died fullfilling his dream. The funeral went through the capital of Peru with a horsre drawn carriage white horse with boots mounted backwards.there was a 30 day national mourning. An obituary was published in the New York Times.
My name is Richard Ernest Hanley (Sousa).
My mother was a daughter of Ernesto Sousa, Dolores Sousa Almondoz.
