About This Book

**Can an awkward outsider find the real murderer and save her friend?**

When my chaotic friend invites me to join her and her extended family for a weekend, I take time off from my senior year of pre-med studies to join them. Her father’s newly built mansion intimidates me, however, and my social anxiety rears its head as I try to hide my poor, Appalachian-influenced background.

Her father is discovered murdered in the middle of the night, though, and the sheriff’s deputy has reason to make my friend the number one suspect. I make a silent vow to find the real killer amongst us.

Because this deputy and I had an unpleasant run-in three years ago, we circle around making nice with each other while still withholding our trust. The layers of falseness I uncover overwhelm me, and I question my own viewpoint. But if I don’t find the murderer and convince the deputy to arrest them, my friend could spend the bulk of her life in a prison cell.
