About This Book
Amid the fever of enthusiasm for the first propulsion cars at the beginning of the 20th century, two Spanish journalists, Carlos Crouselles and Javier Bueno, decided to embark together, "without any hurry", on a trip to Paris mounted on a donkey, as a sign of protest against modernity--at least the misuse of technological progress--where the presence of a growing number of vehicles began to cause serious inconveniences (increase in acoustic and environmental pollution, road congestion, an increasing number of accidents ...). The diary of the hikers, crossing villages and cities to the rejoicing of their respective neighborhoods, was published in the newspaper España Nueva between August 31 and December 14, 1906, becoming one of the greatest successes of Spanish journalism.
