About This Book

Aside from the chapter by him, there is also a foreword by Lummis (editor of the Out West magazine) titled, Spanish-American cookery (mostly focusing on what was later be considered to be Mexican cookery). However, his chapter on "Spanish-American dishes ..." also includes recipes from Peru and other places. There is also a short preliminary section on the work of the Landmarks Club (p. v-vi). All the plates at the beginning are photographs showing the run-down state of 3 or 4 southern California missions (San Juan Capistrano, San Fernando, San Luis Rey, and San Diego) whose resurrection the Landmarks Club was making its responsibility.
