This (third edition) provides the most complete coverage of the factors affecting the health status of African Americans. The need for this book is tremendous: in the seven years since the release of the second edition, the health status among African Americans has continued to be marginalized against national morbidity and mortality statistics. All existing chapters have been substantially updated, and this edition includes numerous new thematic chapters to capture the evolving dynamics of health disparities in the African American community.
