Oorlogsdagboek Van Jan Fe Cilliers, 1899-1902 (Bronnepublikasie - Instituut vir Geskiedenisnavorsing)

This is the Anglo-Boer War diary of Jan F E Celliers. He fought with the Boer forces throughout that war and subsequent to it became one of the leading poets, along with Totius and Leipoldt, to record that tragic struggle in poetry. He was a 'bittereinde' -- one who fought right through to the end -- and his recorded accounts of events are of very considerable historical as well as human interest.
His poetry is very moving to anyone with empathy for the Boer cause, or for those simply wishing to understand it.
