"Critical study analyzes official indigenist policy in Venezuela and its effects on the Cariban Kari'ña (Carib). Brief introduction to Kari'ña social organization is followed by a summary of official indigenist policy concentrating on the Instituto Agrario Nacional program creating indigenous enterprises. The effects of this program - and herein lies the contribution of the study - have been entirely negative for indigenous social, political, and economic organization.
