After the first World-War a little part of Germany, called Saarland or SAAR had a special international status, called "status quo".
In 1933 the government of Germany tried to catch this small country back to Germany.
The league of nations agreed to a plebiscite, making a decision to keep maintenance "status quo", to be a part of France or to return to Germany. What happened in this small country between 1933 and 1935 seemed to be like a battle between the different interests of the people. That is what is discribed in this book!
