About This Book

This is a book by my husband's great grandfather, relating the story of his adventures in the West as a young man. He ran away in his early teens from his stepmother and step siblings (while his father was away during the Civil War), bull-whacked to Denver, later lied about his age to join the Union army. I won't go any further than to say most of what he told was true. There is one major exception, and I won't set that forth because I do not want to soil his memory. He was a good man and lived an exciting life, homesteadng in SD and Canada, then back to die in the U.S. Read his book and enjoy.
