Let My People Grow

The Reverend Michael Harper, former Director of the Fountain Trust. calls for radical and urgent reform of the Church and for renewal in the area of its ministry. 'The charismatic movement', he writes, 'is challenging the Church to take seriously the "every-member" ministry of the early Church. Can that ministry be contained within the odl traditional structures of the historic churches? When new life burgeons out, will it not be inhibited by the church order of a bygone age?...Unfortunately it is as true in the Christian Church as it is in the field of economics that, to quote Professor J. Galbraith, "originality is taken to be the mask of instability." we need to be bold enough to move out into fresh pastures, whilst not being foolish enough to neglect the old paths.'
