Rich uncle

If Dr. Faber's trip had been wholly respectable, he could have called the police when he found the body in the back seat of his car. But the doctor was headed for a week of clandestine romance with his married ladylove, and a scandal would have serious consequences.
Once the dead man was hidden temporarily in a snowbank, Dr. Faber, understandably panicky, asked Jeff Green to investigate because he trusted Jeff's brains and discretion. Jeff traced the corpse back to a beautiful girl, very much alive, and the unusual set of ledgers that her rich, recently-murdered uncle had kept. Now he had two murders to solve, and two clients to serve.
