Escape from Burma is a true story of Sandra and Mya Swe who attempt to leave their country and seek assistance from Bill Shepherd of the U.S. Embassy. Shepherd is a CIA operative and is having an affair with a Shan princess married to a Burmese military officer. Shepherd and the princess flee toward the eastern border but are captured by Kun Chan, a notorious opium warlord. Chan is entertaining a representative of a drug distribution cartel of Europe who is an undercover operative of the US Drug Enforcement Agency.The attempts by Shepherd, the Shan Princess and the DEA operative to escape from the clutches of Kun Chan provide for a suspenseful ending to the novel.
