This book presents the results of ethnographic research on the practice of traditional medicine in Ayacucho. With first-hand sources, the author studies the cultural syndromes of certain diseases, their healers and the healing procedure. It also describes the deities involved in the health-disease process, the users of this medicine and its relationship with official medicine.
