About This Book
Exhibition: deSingel, Antwerpen, Belgium (7.11.2017-13.1.2018).
We do not realize enough space between the multitude of buildings in Flanders which space we already have available. RE-ST works on this awareness by detecting and recording the underutilisation. Only by activating this space, or restitution to nature, can we stop the increasing amount of roaming space. Space is manifested at different scales. In order to interpret this diversity, RE-ST examines four domains: culture, education, road infrastructure, housing and heritage. DeSingel acts as a case for the first theme. Since the campus was taken into use in 1968, the site has undergone an expansion several times. The last one, by Stéphane Beel Architects, was good for no less than 12,000 extra. On the basis of figures and stories, RE-ST maps to what extent the campus is currently underutilized or not. Exhibition held at deSingel in Antwerpen, Belgium.
