The current directors of the Faculty of Arts and Design, as well as Architecture, of the UNAM, doctors Gerardo García Luna Martínez and Juan Ignacio del Cueto Ruiz-Funes, respectively, agreed to celebrate the 240th anniversary of the founding of the Real Academia de San Carlos in 1781 in Mexico City with a special edition, reflecting on the history in common with Spain and at the same time recovering the origin of its disciplines. The book was completed with a posthumous historical text by the recently deceased specialist, Eduardo Báez Macías (1931- 2020). In this book, the main historic handwriten manuscripts and the official documents of the foundation of the Academy of Fine Arts in Mexico were selected, photographed and transcribed.
