About This Book

Saam Nijstad draws on his experience as an art dealer to tell his story about a number of works of art and share his impressions. He examines the representation of the works, their art-historical background and the artists, clearly reiterating both his opinion and vision in the process. Works by Albert Bloemaert, Aelbert Cuyp and Michiel van Musscher are described. The final essay of the book is given over to modern art, which should be viewed and enjoyed in a different way to 17th century art: "Think with your feelings and feel with your mind!" As he says himself: "Each work has its own unique radiance and its own story to tell. These are the stories I would like to share with you, the reader."
