About This Book
Memoirs of a Jew who was born in 1900 in Posen and later lived in Berlin, based on notes written upon his arrival in England in spring 1939. Reichmann, a former trustee of the Centralverein deutscher Staatsbürger jüdischen Glaubens, was arrested in the course of the "Kristallnacht" pogrom and imprisoned in Sachsenhausen. His report includes a description of the persecution of German Jewry between 1937-39 and a detailed account of life in Sachsenhausen and the physical and mental abuse he suffered. He was released on 27 December 1938 and emigrated with his wife to England.
