Family walk-up

Excellent: this is a story of a working class family in London in the late 1950's; it foreshadows current issues facing 21st century England in terms of education, race/ethnic relations, socio-economic challenges, and family dynamics. Great characters, strong moral message nicely handled with subtlety and wit, and an engaging read.
