The Unhappy Medium

After an extremely lengthy set-up, *The Unhappy Medium* eventually presents the story of disgraced former physicist Dr Newton Barlow who is recruited by the metaphysical forces of Good to destroy artifacts of Evil. Despite his reluctance and atheism, Dr. Barlow turns out to be a very effective relic hunter, and even starts to salvage some of his relationship with his estranged teenage daughter, but everything is put at risk when an ancient evil is brought back to life.
