About This Book

This book is designed to increase awareness among social scientists in particular and among those concerned with conferences in general of the extent to which the small conference is a new and powerful communication form. The book is divided into two parts. Part One is a discussion of the conference form as it has emerged during the last thirty years, paralleling the growth of interest in various forms of group process as subjects of research. Part Two of this book, by Paul Byers, is a photographic presentation of three types of conferences, and a verbal analysis based upon these photographic records.
