The riverbanks remain

A chance meeting on a Thai train between a foreign correspondent and an English language teacher leads them on an Asian journey where they confront their deepest fears. Paths merge and perceptions blur as they look into the small pocket mirror of love. Their story is set against a backdrop of events spanning Russian withdrawal from Afghanistan, the 1991 Gulf War and the first bomb attack on the World Trade Center. In Asia, where time has a different quality, the past is alive and current world events may be seen as the unfinished past.
