O artista do povo

This book discusses the work by Brazilian filmmaker Amacio Mazzaropi (1927-1981) in the context of Brazilian culture. Mazzaropi was an artist who worked on his own terms, presenting a culture within Brazil that has been mostly ignored by the intellectual elites. His work differs from the work done by the best known members of the Cinema Novo, even though all were trying to carve a space in the culture for more voices to be heard within the Brazilian nation.
