About This Book
Due to ambitious plans for the North Carolina State Exposition of 1884, there was concern that the existing buildings used for the State Fairs would not be able to meet its needs. This pamphlet, issued by the Exposition Company, is both a plea for financial help and a revised plan for the Exposition. It provides information for those individuals, groups, or counties wanting to be participants or exhibitors at the event. Includes details about floor plans, pricing information, shipping and travel costs, special days, rules, and premium lists. Another section details the classification system that determines where an exhibit is displayed. Classified departments include counties, machinery, minerals, metals, raliway supplies, hardware, stoves, tobacco, liquors, canned goods, household furniture, textiles, clothing, scientific material, fine arts, fruits, flowers and plants, natural and artificial. Special mention is given to the Colored Industrial Association and the North Carolina Agricultural Society, whose annual state fairs were included as part of the Exposition.
