American history primary source document library

A primary source is direct evidence of an event, idea, or development in history. It is a written or oral account obtained from actual participants in an event. By presenting students with various primary sources to read and discover, it opens up new sources of knowledge to the student and demonstrates that history has multiple viewpoints on events, issues, or problems.
