About This Book
On 28 July 1975, Jos Lussenburg died at the age of 85. Thirty-five years later, memories of this flamboyant artist are still alive and kicking. This is hardly surprising, as Lussenburg was a people person. The book "Jos Lussenburg - golven van verbeelding" focuses on work from private collections that, contrary to Lussenburg's work in museum collections, in many cases has not been shown to a large audience. Not only does the book feature paintings of tough fisherfolk by the acclaimed Zuider Zee painter, but it also includes still lifes, nudes, portraits, city views, landscapes and interiors. Wim van der Beek describes the turbulent life and work of the musician and painter who possessed the qualities of an inspirer and energizer. Exhibition: Museum Elburg (18.9.2010-8.1.2011).
