About This Book

I have not read this since my childhood, but it's a winner. The Princess is warm-hearted, clever, funny, and kind to animals, but she is born with a very long nose, which gives her a comical appearance. She falls in love with an arrogant and impeccably handsome prince, who rejects her because of her looks. The prince goes on to woo and win a perfectly beautiful princess. She is, unfortunately, obsessed with her own appearance and he eventually finds her dull. He returns to the long-nosed Princess, eats a little humble pie, and wins her hand in marriage. I believe at the end the Princess is offered the opportunity to change her nose by magic, but the people and animals in the kingdom tell her that they love her the way she is. The characterizations in this book are lively: there is plenty of humor, and the Princess is absolutely winning.
