About This Book

The book is a continuation of Reading and Writing in Acholi (Volume 1). The introduction and various new aspects are written in English to aid the understanding of the language, since the authour is the first to present the language in a teachable form. That is to say, technical terms such as 'consonant' did not exist in Acholi and the authour brings out either a description or the closest word to it. The book is has three parts viz 1) Review of work done in Volume One, 2) Syllables (this has been presented in deep details, much beyond the commonly held conception that Acholi alphabets and sounds are the same, far from it) and 3) Reading (10 short stories, requiring the student to summarise and name main characters). The book is versatile and can be used for class teaching as well as by an adult learner of the language. Prior knowledge of the English language offers additional advantage. It is a highly recommended book which offers the buyer more than the £5.00 one may pay for. Wishing you best reading.
