About This Book

History of the Cust family, chiefly during the eighteenth century. They were a middle-ranking Anglo-Irish family, with some members holding office in two of the major eighteenth-century bureaucracies (the Revenue Board and the Barrack Board). They were landlords, landowners, and middlemen leasing land (principally from the Archbishop of Armagh) and subletting it at economic rents to working farmers. The pedigree chart shows six generations of the family between 1689 and 1829.
