The city is growing and so-called smart city worldwide trend is discussed. However, beyond the implementation of technology are the real stakeholders of the city, the one to whom it turns, the dweller of it, the 21st century citizen. We can provide more bandwidth, new media, robots, intelligent services and material comfort, but what are the real needs, the real concerns of the people behind all these digital wonders. Can we look beyond the technology to what is a city in essence, it can provide and what are the constraints on the human level. We'll come out with diversity, housing distribution, income gaps, environmental problems and what we do when there is no work? The title makes it clear that the basic task of a city increasingly is in the ignition, the connection.
