It is introduced by Lieutenant General William P. Yarborough, the father of the green beret, with comments from Generals Carl Stiner and James J. Lindsay, and Colonel Aaron Bank, former commander of the first U.S. Army Special Forces Group (Airborne). The author is a retires Special Forces officer who has been inducted as a Distinguished Member of the 1st Special Forces Regiment.
