About This Book

This book, with drawings by David Sisman, covers the basics of amateur diving from information gleaned while running the first diving school on the island of Malta between 1963 and 1970. This is of historical interest because diving qualifications, as we now know them, were only just beginning to be put into place from around the late-1960s. Consequently the techniques etc. described all had to be developed against a practial background. In particular, there is a whole chapter devoted to various modes of deep water rescue techniques, as developed by Peter Dick and Malcolm Palmer.
