The age of splendour focuses on the Baroque era with works from Rembrandt, Rubens, Caravaggio, and Bernini coupled with spectacular new limits of realism and expression that fostered such art as Las Meninas, Marriage a la mode, The conversion of St. Paul, and The lion hunt.

Reason and enlightenment focuses on the Rococo era with an emphasis on pastoral themes and strong classical influence that emerged in the work of Hogarth, Gainsborough, Chardin, and David. Works studied include The blue boy, The rakes progress, and Saying grace.
