Shipwrecks & maritime disasters

The author has tried to give the layperson an overview of some of the more interesting or calamitous wrecks and has attempted to set the individual incidents in their historical contexts. It looks at the conditions faced by mariners down through the decades and links chronologically distant accidents in a thematic order. The author's criteria for inclusion has been personal interest and fair geographical and thematic representation.
