About This Book
This data collection contains information on all deaths processed by the National Center for Health Statistics for calendar year 1992. Each record in the file includes data on underlying cause and multiple cause of death, place of death and residence of the deceased, whether an autopsy was performed, and the month and day of the week of the death. In addition, data are supplied on the sex, race, age, marital status, education, usual occupation, and origin or descent of the deceased. The multiple cause fields are coded from the Manual of the international statistical classification of diseases, injuries, and cause-of-death, ninth revision (ICD-9), volumes 1 and 2. NCHS has removed direct identifiers and characteristics that might lead to identification of data subjects and requires that this data not be used for any purpose other than statistical analysis and reporting.
