Biography
Growing up in Illinois, Bob Miller was filled with the lore of Lincoln and the Civil War. In retirement, his pursuit of family history led him to follow his great, great grandfather’s trail to its end in the Battle of Resaca in ever greater detail, filling this book with his comrades’ accounts of their experiences. A degree in math from the University of Tulsa and lessons from a career in computer analysis taught him that every assumption must be found out by feeling for the exceptions. And that there is always another bug. He learned to be wary of firsthand accounts of only one participant and to search for multiple firsthand accounts in place of secondhand stories. So the book took four years of research with painstaking scrutiny—and no certainty of knowing the last word on what happened at Resaca. -Amazon
