West Virginia Poet and Storyteller, Shirley Hedrick Williams was born in Charleston, West Virginia; and spent her childhood in the Dunbar-Charleston-Cross Lanes area. She began writing short stories at the age of 11; started expressing herself in poetic forms using nature themes as analogy at the age of 15. Shirley has published poems in Journals across America through the years and received the title of A West Virginia Ambassador of Poetry for All Peoples as a Member of the West Virginia Poetry Society from the Secretary of State, A.
