John Nunn es un conocido Gran Maestro inglés, que ha ganado cuatro medallas de oro individuales y tres medallas de plata colectivas en diferentes Olimpiadas de ajedrez. En la Copa del Mundo 1988-89 finalizó sexto, por delante de varios excampeones mundiales. Posiblemente sea el autor de ajedrez más prestigioso del mundo, y dos de sus libros han sido premiados por la Federación Británica de Ajedrez como mejor libro del año.
