Biography

Hartmut Herold was born in Heidelberg, Germany and is Architect by profession.He started his professional career with a carpentry apprenticeship. After studying architecture he was mainly working on sacral monuments and historical buildings in Germany. Amongst others he worked on the Cathedral of Mainz and historical churches within the Archbishopric of Freiburg, Germany.
From 1999 until 2003 he was working as a Development Worker of the DED (German Development Service) in Botswana. After he managed a vocational school for architectural draughtsman, DED commissioned him from the year 2000 on to locate and document historical buildings in Botswana and give recommendations and guidelines for their renovations and preservations. As a result of this mission, he wrote the book "Historical Buildings in Botswana" . In 2000 Hartmut Herold lost his wife and did not marry again.
In 2003 he went back to Germany and is currently working as regional manager in Heidelberg for architectural issues within the Archbishopric of Freiburg.
