Biography
James Arthur Holt is a journalist credited with more than 30 awards and nominations, primarily for crime reporting and investigative work, in both print and TV, in both Canada and the United States. These include a 2001 Emmy Award nomination in the category of Serious News: multi-part TV presentation for retracing the steps of a terrorist and a 2009 Associated Press Award for Investigative Reporting. Born in the Isle of Man and raised in Canada, Holt resides in Southern California.
He has written three books of poetry: THE SEASONAL LIGHTNING ROD published in 1973; AXLE MY YOUTH (1974) and INCIENSO (1990).
In 1975/76, Holt co-wrote a 20-minute musical composition with Ottawa musician Chris Ellis called A JOKER'S MEMORY (http://www.itcamefromcanada.com/post/2009/11/13/Jokers-Memory-A-Jokers-Memory.aspx) mastered in Montreal, pressed on vinyl at RCA Records in Smiths Falls and distributed locally in Ottawa.
A year later, he and Ellis wrote the pop song BIRTHDAY BOY which was recorded by Buzz Cason and released as an album track on the LP BUZZ and as a single on the Dick James Music Records label.
