Joy, In her own Words.....

“My experience in schools, youth service organisations and small businesses have taught me three things:

1 Learning is a two way experience;
2 A teacher who ceases to learn, ceases to be effective.
3 A Student’s belief in himself/herself is directly related to the teachers belief in him/her.

Unless we are able to make connections between learning and the dictates of our culture, lifestyle and post school experiences, it becomes difficult to fully engage.

My fundamental goal in teaching and training is to enable students and teachers to understand the reasons for and benefits of their learning. I believe that when we are able to do this, it is easier to engage and therefore achieve better results. I have worked with young people who have far exceeded the expectations of those around them; because knowing why they need to learn has motivated them to break down many academic, social and psychological barriers and move forward towards their ultimate goals.”
