Biography

Hello! My name is Thomas H. Curry, and I am a Mechanical Engineer. I am a graduate of Oregon State University, with Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Mechanical Engineering (1980 and 1985, respectively).

In industry, I have conducted Structural Analysis and Dynamics analysis on mechanical systems, and this covered 22 yrs. The programs/projects that I have worked on have been in various technologies: for example, technical support to water filtration systems; assembly engineering of missiles; structural analysis of an Anti-Armor Tank Containment Structure - munitions testing; structural analysis of launch vehicles (rockets); and optical design/analysis of optical payloads/satellites, which, for example, have been for NASA - customers have been the various branches of the Federal Government: NASA, Air Force, Army, Navy, etc.

I use the industry standard for analysis software -- NX Nastran, SDRC Ideas, ABAQUS, Matlab, ANSYS, etc. I also use the MicroSoft Suite software, for example, Technical Reports, etc - MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, etc. Over the last 4 yrs, I have been performing optical ray tracing and diffraction analysis with regard to evaluation(s) of Space-Based Telescopic systems; areas include Wave Front Error, PSFs, aberrations, etc. I also use the industry standard for optical software - ZEMAX & Code V.

In addition, I hold a Professional Engineer's License, in which presently, I am licensed in the States of California & Idaho (Idaho PE Lic # 6028).

Currently, I am employed with Coherent, INC in the Laser Diode Module Division, Wilsonville, Oregon. I also assist in operating a small family business in Corvallis, OR. In addition, I provide services of tutoring to engineering students.
