Biography
Begmyrat Bayryyev is a former Turkmen journalist, author, and academic educator whose work focuses on politics, society, culture, and information control in Turkmenistan and the wider post-Soviet space. He holds a Master’s degree in Media, Culture, and Society from Lancaster University in the United Kingdom, completed through the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, Poland, and a Master’s degree in English Language Education in the field of Philology from Ahmet Yesevi University (Turkey–Kazakhstan).
His academic interests include media studies, cultural analysis, language education, and communication. He has taught at the tertiary level as a lecturer and has university teaching experience in the Gulf countries. He began cooperating with Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL), a U.S.-funded international media organization under the United States Agency for Global Media (USAGM), in 2012 and later worked at its Prague headquarters as a staff journalist from 2018 to 2025.
