Biography

Belgian economist. Studied in Ghent, Copenhagen and Paris. Now resident of Madeira. Taught at the universities of Ghent, Brussels, and North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Worked in Argentina for Harvard University, Brazil for the University of California at Berkeley, Morocco for the University of Michigan, Portugal for the ILO and Washington DC for the Inter American Development Bank.

Early consumerist. Co-founder of Belgian Consumers Association. Third President of the International Organization of Consumers Unions (now Consumers International) from 1975 to 1978. Supporter of the Basic Needs approach to development strategy.

Published "Histoire de Test-Achats" in 2005. Editions Racine, Brussels and "A World of Inflation" Batsford, London 1976 (with G. Maynard).
